- What is the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle?
The Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle is a funding initiative designed to generate substantial new revenues for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The raffle is not considered philanthropy in the traditional sense.
- How will proceeds from the raffle be spent and how specifically will the Hospital benefit from the raffle?
The raffle proceeds will enable the Hospital to continue to perform its miracle work and help children in our community live long and healthy lives.
All of the proceeds generated from the raffle will be invested back into the Hospital to enhance its medical research, charity care and graduate medical education. Phoenix Children’s Hospital provides world-class care to thousands of children in Arizona and throughout the Southwest.
- Who is financing the raffle?
The Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle is sponsored by Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
- What role does the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation play in the raffle?
Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation is managing the raffle operations with an external resource that has expertise in operating similar raffles for other hospitals and foundations throughout North America.
- Are the children featured in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle advertisements actual patients at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital?
The raffle features some of Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s “miracle kids” – patients who are on the path to long and healthy lives thanks to the world-class medical care provided by Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
- How is this raffle different from any other raffle?
The proceeds from this raffle support the miracle work that is being performed every day by Arizona’s only freestanding pediatric hospital.
Prizes
- Who can buy a raffle ticket?
In order to participate in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle, the ticket purchaser must meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old at the time of purchase.
- Ticket purchasers must be physically present in the State of Arizona at the time tickets are purchased.
- The following individuals, and their respective immediate family members residing in the same household, are not eligible to participate in the raffle: (a) board members and executive management staff of Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation; (b) board members and executive management staff of any affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies and related entities of Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation; (c) officers, directors and employees of the Raffle Administrator and Moss Adams (the “Raffle Auditor”); and (d) officers, directors and employees of any affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies and related entities of the Raffle Administrator and the Raffle Auditor.
- What prizes are included in the raffle?
The Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle features thousands of luxury prizes – such as plasma TVs, DVD players, home theatre systems, digital cameras, iPods, dream vacations, vehicles with gas cards, and even up to seven $1 million cash prizes. The number and value of prizes may vary based on number of tickets sold.
- What is the total value of the prize board?
The total value of the prize board for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle is over $4.8 million.
- Where are raffle tickets sold?
Tickets are available beginning Nov. 10 at the Hospital, by phone 1-866-884-7953 or online atPCHraffle.com.
- How much are raffle tickets?
Tickets are $100 each, three for $250 and seven for $500.
- How many raffle tickets are available for sale?
A maximum of 110,000 tickets will be sold and the odds of winning are one in seven.
- Can raffle participants win more than one prize?
Yes. Purchased tickets are eligible for all subsequent Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle drawings, and participants may win more than one prize.
- When will the Phoenix Children’s Raffle take place?
Prize drawings will take place as follows:
- Early Bonus Draw will be held on Dec. 30, 2008 for tickets purchased by midnight Dec. 18, 2008.
- Early Bird Draw will be held on Feb. 12, 2009 for tickets purchased by Jan. 30, 2009.
- Valentine's Day Temperature Event will be held on Feb. 14, 2009.
- Travel and Minor Prize Draw will be held on March 2, 2009 for tickets purchased by Feb. 12, 2009.
- Grand Prize Draw will be held on March 4, 2009 for tickets purchased by Feb. 12, 2009.
- Grand Prize Playoff and Final Draw will be held on March 6, 2009 for people who have purchased their ticket by the final ticket sales deadline of midnight Feb. 12, 2009.
- Can any of the prizes be exchanged for cash?
Yes, however only prizes as specified in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle brochure or Web site may be exchanged for cash value. Details are available at PCHraffle.com.
- How will the raffle winners be notified?
Within 15 days after the Grand Prize Playoff Draw, a complete list of winners (name and ticket number) will be available online at PCHraffle.com and ticket holders will be able to access this Web site to check their prize winning status. At that time winners will also be able to call 1-866-437-0416 to find out if they are a winner. All winners will be notified by mail with instruction on how to collect their prize(s).
- How do raffle winners claim their prizes?
Winners will be instructed how to collect their prize(s) by mail after the Grand Prize Playoff Draw has taken place on March 6, 2009. Some winners may need to present an award letter and a valid photo identification in order to claim their prize(s). The purchase price of a raffle ticket does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution. All prize winners shall be responsible for any federal, state, local income or excise taxes, fees, assessments, vehicle licenses, vehicle title and registration fees, and like charges associated with their prizes and for paying any such amount. - What happens if there are two or more names listed on a winning raffle ticket?
In the event that a winning raffle ticket has more than one name listed on it, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle Administrator will award the prize to the first name listed on the raffle ticket. Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and its external partner are not responsible for resolving disputes that may arise from any conflict between joint ticket purchasers.
- Is my purchase of a raffle ticket tax-deductible?
The Phoenix Children’s Hospital Raffle is a non-traditional funding initiative. According to the IRS ruling, the cost of entry does not qualify for a charitable donation. Thus, it will not be tax-deductible.
